Class Style & Level

Yang Yoga

The 60-minute yang classes are sports focused practices designed specifically with cyclists in mind. The repetitive nature of cycling biomechanics and the cycling posture itself create physical imbalances that as cyclists, we must try to counteract. This practice is a strength-based practice that will move you through sequences that challenge your strength and flexibility. Athletes in general will also benefit from these classes, as will professional sitters ;-). Virginia offers options for all levels of students in her classes. Breathing, stretching, strengthening, and deep relaxation are included in every class.

Yin Yoga

In a yang practice, we're targeting muscle and muscle wants to be warm and have repetitive motion. In yin yoga, we're actually trying to get the muscles to disengage so we can target deeper, denser connective tissues, in particular the layer of tissue called Fascia. This practice is about releasing deeply held tension within your body, mind, and emotions and perfectly compliments as well as strengthens cyclists training regimes. It's ideal post-training when relaxation is vital for recovery. It will activate your parasympathetic nervous system and the long holds will strengthen concentration skills at the same time.

How do the online classes work?

The classes are an online class that takes place live on Zoom.

When you sign up for the class you will get a ZOOM LINK to the once you have booked the service. The link will arrive in your email inbox.

If you can’t take the class at the scheduled time—don’t worry! After the live class, you’ll receive a replay link & have access to that class for 24 hours.

Please note – registration for that day’s live class will CLOSE 15 minutes before the class starts.

How much do the live classes cost?

Group classes are by donation with a minimum donation of AUD$10.00. A 60 minute private online class is AUD$80.00.

What you will need for class

Bring yourself and a yoga mat, blocks, a blanket, a bolster and a strap.  If you don’t have blocks, a small stack of books will work. In place of a bolster, a a firm pillow or similar will suffice and, in place of a strap, a long belt will do the trick. Props will come in handy but are not necessary.

Have your laptop or phone loaded with the Zoom app and you are all set!

About Virginia

Virginia is a Yoga Alliance certified Yoga Teacher and has been practicing and studying yoga since 2010. Virginia teachers a sports focused practice with plenty of options for all levels, even the stiffest body! As a cyclist she knows first hand how beneficial yoga is for cyclists. Breath work and meditation also form part of Virginia's teaching. Her online classes are streamed live from her home in Newcastle, Australia when she is not travelling, or Lucca, Italy her home away from home, when she is travelling with Soulfit Adventures.

The minimum donation for group classes is AUD$10.00.

If you can’t make the live class, no worries – you can still register and receive a replay link that is good for 24 hours.
